Finish of the Month -
Epoca
Each one of our finishes is an original creation, with the
colors and textures designed especially for that project. In this
master bedroom & bathroom our client wanted us to create a
backdrop that showcased her extensive collection of
art. Our challenge here was to do a finish that looked very
rough and dimensional, while actually being fairly smooth to the touch for
practicality's sake. Our project started while the house was still in the final
stages of construction. We were given a piece of the bedroom
furniture with a very aged, unique finish to match, which we used to pull
the colors from and create a finish that complemented without competing with the
furniture. This was done in a multilayered process. We waited to put
the final layer on until the furniture was in the room, so that we could
ensure the finish was a shade or two lighter and still worked with the
furniture. The end result was Epoca -- an extremely textured finish, which
softens the starkness of the walls and fills up the space without detracting
from the other elements of the room.
Designer
Survey
We recently completed an indepth survey
of a cross section of California interior designers to find
out how Molto Bene Designer Wall Finishes could best meet
their needs. If you helped us out with this, thank you! We gathered a lot
of very interesting and vital information, including a clear idea of the
Do's and Don'ts of being the kind of artisan designers want to work
with:
DO: Work with the designer, be
flexible, be willing to try new things
DO: Return calls, stay in good
communication with the client and designer
DO: Be reliable, do what you say you
will when you say you will
DO: Be a professional, with
contracts and invoices and the things you expect from a
professional
DON'T: Be a prima donna, no ego
or upstaging the designer
DON'T: Make suggestions to the client
without coordinating with the designer or having any knowledge of the overall
look
DON'T: Drag out jobs, or come up with
"hidden costs".
